Tip

The Blokkendam dive site is situated on the North Sea coast of South Holland. It is an offshore dive site bordering directly on the open sea. Due to its location near recreational beaches, it can get very busy here during the summer months with other bathers and beachgoers. Diving Conditions and Planning Diving at this North Sea site is subject to very strict weather conditions. The site is only suitable for diving in very calm weather and, preferably, a flat sea. The most favourable conditions occur when there is an offshore, north-easterly wind. Due to its exposure to the open sea and the changing conditions, this dive site is classified for advanced divers only. Underwater life The hard substrates of the dam provide an excellent habitat for North Sea marine life. The main ecological attraction of this dive site is the sea dahlia (Urticina felina). This large, colourful species of anemone attaches itself to the basalt blocks of the dam and is the defining inhabitant of this specific location
